Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu (Newport Beach Dojo NSW)
On Saturday 5th April, Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu held an Open Black Belt Grading for Sempai Guido Mandera for his Shodan Grading and Sensei Tony Van den Hurk for his Yodan Grading.
It was an honour to present the largest and highest ranked Joseki in our clubs history. We would like to thank Professor Ray Lea- Ju Dan (Head Kokusai Ju Jitsu Ken Kyu Kai), Shihan John Collett- 8th Dan (Chief Instructor – Kokusai Ju Jitsu Ken Kyu Kai), Sensei Peter Weddell- 3rd Dan Goju Karate International, Sensei Mike Sheridan-3rd Dan (MMA & Kakumie Ju Jitsu),Guro Elwyn Gerbuto- Sandan Cacoy Das Perez, Sensei Tony Van en Hurk -Principal Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu, Sensei Keith Phillips -Shodan (1st Dan) Tenkan Ju Jitsu, Sensei Michelle Jones -Shodan(1st Dan) Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu, Sensei Paul Jones -Shodan (1st Dan) Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu, Sensei Pete Carter- Shodan (1st Dan) Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu, Sensei Rob Eagland Shodan (1st Dan) Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu for their support, knowledge and experience.
The grading was an all-day event, starting with a closed morning training session for all 2nd Level Brown and Black Belts hosted by Professor Ray Lea and Shihan John Collett. This was a great opportunity to learn from such highly ranked martial artists. The Open Grading then followed, including demonstrations of various Kata from all Kaisei Ryu Sensei’s and Guro Elwyn Gerbuto. Kaisei Ryu Ju Jitsu is a blend of Traditional Japanese Martial Arts with modern self-defense techniques. The grading was an action packed day covering all areas of our style; body conditioning (break falls), rolls, stand up fighting- kicking and striking, traditional throwing and locking techniques, ground fighting and submissions. The audience enjoyed the defensive weapon techniques with live blades!
